Analytical Literature and Writing Class

This course is primarily for students who have completed some version of the Advanced Analytical Literature and Writing class. Over the tenure of this course, students will advance the complexity of their argumentative writing by moving beyond literary analysis and into synthesis of multiple works. Fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art are all texts we will learn to analyze and synthesize. By the end of this class, students will have a firm grasp of the art and structure of synthesis writing, including how to compose evidence-based analysis which arrives at a deeper understanding of various texts through their comparison. In addition to literary device mastery, students continue to develop quote integration, grammar, and fluency.
