AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism Course Duration: September – First Week of May Schedule: 1.5 hours per week Holidays: No classes during designated holidays Prerequisite: Students should have a solid foundation in calculus. AP Calculus BC or an equivalent calculus background is strongly recommended. Course Description: This year-long AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism course provides systematic instruction in calculus-based electricity and magnetism. Major topics include electrostatics, conductors and capacitors, electric circuits, magnetic fields, and electromagnetism. The course emphasizes both conceptual understanding and the application of calculus to physics. Students will learn to analyze electric and magnetic phenomena using mathematical models, equations, diagrams, and quantitative reasoning. Particular attention will be given to challenging concepts, multi-step problems, and the integration of calculus with physics. As the AP exam approaches, students will focus on comprehensive content review, FRQ-style practice, mock exams, error analysis, and strengthening weaker areas. Course Goals: Build a strong understanding of electricity and magnetism, strengthen calculus-based physics reasoning, improve mathematical modeling and complex problem-solving skills, and prepare students for the AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism exam. Recommended Background: Because this is a calculus-based course, students are expected to be comfortable with derivatives and integrals. Students who are currently taking AP Calculus BC may also enroll, provided they have sufficient foundational calculus skills.
