Course Description AP U.S. History (APUSH) is one of the most rigorous and writing-intensive Advanced Placement courses offered in high school. Students are expected not only to master more than 500 years of U.S. history but also to develop strong historical reasoning, analytical writing, and document-based argumentation skills. This course is designed for students who plan to take AP U.S. History during the upcoming school year. Through a combination of summer preview classes and fall academic support, students will build a solid historical foundation, stay ahead of their school curriculum, strengthen classroom performance, and prepare for success on the AP Exam. Course Objectives By the end of this course, students will be able to: Develop a strong understanding of major events, historical developments, and key themes in U.S. history. Build a chronological framework of American history from 1491 to the present. Strengthen historical thinking skills required by the College Board, including: Causation Comparison Continuity and Change over Time (CCOT) Contextualization Historical Argumentation Improve academic reading, note-taking, and analytical writing skills. Gain confidence in both their school APUSH class and the AP Exam.
